“KDS_Ceramics” - Kanal D Shah Ceramics

Ceramics took its own sweet time to be a part of my life. I took a week’s workshop in throwing, trimming and glazing ceramics. It was actually an effort to make my transition smooth during a difficult phase of my life. I completely lost myself with clay and its versatility, back then.

Long story short, the pandemic times of 2020 - 2021, gave me, rather everybody in this world, a new direction, outlook, new hobbies or decisive moments about what to do next with your life.

I got into abstract painting with inks - minimal colours or just using two or three colours at a time. I wanted to use all the the different mediums to explore the effect of the the abstract art on them. Ceramic was one of them. I wanted to paint on it. I decided to get my hands on and understand the integration of form, pattern and colour within the realm of clay.

My ceramics are mostly hand thrown on the potter’s wheel. I explore various techniques such as coiling, slab building, inlay , nerikomi, to create art and utilitarian pieces.

Each day is a new day for learning and experimenting and hopefully soon I will be able to offer my pieces to sell online, to behold and enjoy. All the pieces in my gallery are for sale.
